Comic book Superman is a legendary superhero known as the Man of Steel. First appearing in Action Comics #1 in 1938, he was created by writer Jerry Siegel and artist Joe Shuster. Superman is the last son of Krypton, an alien planet destroyed shortly after his birth. As a baby named Kal-El, he was sent to Earth by his parents and adopted by a kind couple, Jonathan and Martha Kent, who raised him as Clark Kent in the small town of Smallville.

Clark grows up with extraordinary powers granted by Earth's yellow sun, including super strength, speed, flight, invulnerability, heat vision, x-ray vision, and super hearing. Despite these incredible abilities, he is grounded by a strong moral compass and a deep sense of responsibility, instilled by his human parents. He lives by the ideals of truth, justice, and hope, often becoming a symbol of inspiration to those around him.

By day, Clark Kent works as a mild-mannered reporter for the Daily Planet in Metropolis, often alongside fellow journalist Lois Lane, who eventually becomes his love interest and wife in various continuities. His arch-nemesis is the brilliant and ruthless Lex Luthor, a wealthy industrialist who sees Superman as a threat to humanity’s independence. Superman also faces cosmic threats like Brainiac, General Zod, and Doomsday.
